Sex and the apartment

Carrie's words in the new movie: “I’ve been cheating on fashion with furniture”. We loved her elegant new apartment.

Paradiso Perduto

I read Dickens' Great Expectations in greek, when I was a kid and it was the kind of unforgettable story that haunts you for a long time. Then I read it again (in english this time), as a part of my studies and much later, when I watched Alfonso Cuaron's film, a whole familiar world became alive. I have to admit that Paradiso Perduto abandoned mansion was beyond my imagination and I recently discovered not only that it exists in Florida but it's a famous tourist attraction called Cà d’Zan (House of John).

Atonement

Looking for images of the stunning "Atonement" interiors, I found out that there's a story behind the movie's sets, Stokesay House.
I have read both enthusiastic and negative remarks on the house's interior which was a mix of several periods' styles (in an attempt to represent the excess of the newly rich upper class of that time), but what counts for me is the atmosphere that was finally created and the truth is that this film followed me for many days.

El Orfanato

I find the photography of this multi-award winner film very inspiring; the sets, the colors, the use of light and shadows contribute to the haunted atmosphere of the 19th century's house and create a familiar and at the same time threatening feeling.

Wonderful interior from a Hampton's retreat, found in setenvy.blogspot.com where many more film interiors can be admired and in purestylehome.blogspot.co.
